Ashley’s Trend Report: Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses, Trend or Fad?
One question that we hear our wedding planners get asked often is whether or not mismatched bridesmaid dresses have gone out of style. This week, I’m excited to tell you that it’s definitely still on trend! Mismatched bridesmaid dresses is one of the best trends the wedding industry has seen in a LONG time.
So, now that you know it’s here to stay, I want to share 5 tips on how to successfully pull off mismatched bridesmaid dresses!
1. Give some direction
You may be one of those brides that is choosing mismatched bridesmaid dresses to alleviate the pressure of choosing one dress to work for all of your maids. Even if you’re currently raising your hand guilty, you should still give some direction. Whether it’s on length and material type, or color vs. patterns, providing your thoughts on some of the next few tips will lead you to effortlessly pull off this trend!

2. Keep one element consistent
This is the most crucial way to ensure your mismatched bridesmaid dresses work together. Whether it’s the neckline, silhouette, color, fabric, or accessories, keeping one element consistent will tie the look together.

3. Stay within a few shades or tones
If you’re mismatching dresses by having girls in different colors, make sure you stay within the same color palette. One of our favorites is neutrals, and for Spring, we love when bride’s mix-up different shades and sparkles of pink!

4. Ensure a good mix
One of the most popular ways to have mismatched bridesmaid dresses is to have each of your bridesmaid wear the same color, but change up the neckline. If that’s how you’re thinking of styling your bridesmaids, make sure you don’t have 5 of your 6 girls all wearing one dress style. Similarly, if you’re doing different shades, you need to ensure you have a good mix of colors!
